Soup Dumplings at Dim Sum Garden - Chinatown Philadelphia

I was introduced to soup dumplings many years ago by a friend who lives in New York City. We went to Joe's Shanghai which is one of the hot spots in flushing. I have never seen or heard of soup dumplings before in my life and I was very intrigued when it came on the basket. Eating one of these dumplings is also quiet challenging because there's hot broth inside and you have to be pretty gentle handling it and eating it but it's all worth it in the end because they are absolutely delicious.

Dim Sum Garden has been around for many years in Philadelphia but it's not one of the usual spots I go to  unless I am craving soup dumplings. Even though their name says 'Dim Sum' they don't actually have traditional dim sum where you have people walk around with carts full of food. Their food options are quiet limited so if you are not familiar with dim sum or are hesitant in trying the more traditional dim sum dishes, Dim Sum Garden is a great place to start.

This time around I went with my mom who has never been to this restaurant. We ordered the shanghai steamed pork soup dumplings to share, for entree my mom ordered the Seafood Noodle Soup (#58) and I got the Shanghai Fried Rice Cake (#73). Just a little side note, when ordering the soup dumpling, you want to eat that first because the way they are made once it gets to room temp the broth becomes thicker.
